Walk on the Wild Side

7th March 2025 by Bob McCalden Leave a Comment

Come and support your village Forum and have a great day out with Walk on the Wild Side-Part 4,Saturday April 26th 2025, 1-5pm at the Old house, Pyrford Road, GU22 8UE.

Before the tour of the grounds and ancient woodlands, (recommend you wear wellingtons or walking shoes), join your hosts Joy and Akeel and your Forum committee for a welcoming drink. For those who were on a previous tour you can hear about the progress that has been made over the last year or so.

The wild life continues to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of The Old House grounds, woodlands and ponds, with many species continuing to visit, several of which have now become resident.

After your walking tour of the grounds, it’s back to the house patio area to enjoy a well earned cup of tea, a traditional cream tea and homemade cakes, Joy will be telling you about the history of The Old House, the current issues and the ongoing restoration programme including plans for the future.

The Pyrford Neighbourhood Forums heritage DVD will be on sale at a special reduced price of £10.00, the video is over eleven minutes long and shows much of the beautiful area in which we live   from the air and from the ground.

A further initiative for this year and to help toward the forum running costs, is the sale of bird, bat and hedgehog boxes, a great way to help and encourage our local wild life, each box comes with an advice leaflet on the best location in your garden.

Tickets are limited and are now on sale at £20.00 per person; proceeds are towards the running costs of your Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum, to reserve your place and purchase tickets just select SHOP from the menu above.

We look forward to seeing you on the day!

Footpath 422 is OPEN!

20th February 2025 by Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum Leave a Comment

The new Right of Way Footpath 422 that runs from opposite the top of Engliff Lane along the boundary of Randall’s Field up to Pyrford Common Road has officially been declared OPEN!

At a ceremony on Sunday 16 February, Marion Malcher and Andy Grimshaw jointly cut the ribbon.

Marion, as the then Footpath Officer of the Byfleet, West Byfleet and Pyrford Residents’ Association, collected all the necessary written evidence from Pyrford Residents and in 2016 submitted the necessary legal documents to Surrey County Council to claim that the route had been used regularly by residents for over 25 years and should be made a Right of Way.

This is the first new Footpath in Pyrford for many decades and it is already proving a very popular addition to the extensive network of footpaths that run through our beautiful area.

Litter Pick February 2025

20th February 2025 by Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum Leave a Comment

Thank you to all the people who came to our Litter Pick on a very chilly Sunday morning. There was an astonishing turnout of around 40 people, who collected enough litter from around Pyrford to fill a huge pile of bags. It was particularly refreshing to welcome two children to the event.

We are grateful to Woking Borough Council for the loan of the pickers and hi-vis vests, and for collecting the bags of rubbish.

Radio Woking sent down a reporter to the event. The item was broadcast on Rob Day’s Breakfast Show at just after 09:30, Thursday morning, 20th February. A copy of the broadcast can be found here. The item starts at 30:00 minutes and runs for about 10 minutes.

The next litter pick is on Saturday 13 April. We hope to see you there!
