SHOPPING AT BOTANICAL PLACE

14th April 2023 by Geoff Geaves 9 Comments

Botanical Place Possible Shop Survey

At the RA AGM on the 6th March, there was a discussion about what shops Retirement Villages Group (RVG) were proposing.
RVG mentioned they have a short survey online where you can have your say.  The link is https://forms.office.com/e/xALmutdiCv. The survey will give RVG an idea of Resident’s wishes but they are not guaranteeing these shops will come, as retailers will have to want to be in the new development.

I think we need a chemist. Before all the building started we had three now just down to one dose’s work.
I would also like to see the return of a village Post Office again we have always had one until the buildings were demolished.

Dawn – I agree we badly need a Post Office again in West Byfleet or Pyrford. If you are interested to explore this further, do please get in touch. I have left my contact details with Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum.

I have come across this page for the first time in February 2025, and am concerned that there has been no response to Dawn’s comment previously that we really do need a Post Office again in West Byfleet or Pyrford. I understand that the owner of Byfleet Post Office has approached The Post Office to offer to open a Post Office in West Byfleet but the Post Office are not interested.

Since the closure and demolition of our Post Office was now some time ago, and Botanical Place and its shops should be opening soon, I believe it is high time we had our Post Office back in West Byfleet or Pyrford. If anyone else is keen to try to make this happen, do please get in touch with me. I have left my contact details with Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum.

I agree with the post office idea.

    Another hair salon
    A cafe
    **Ladies/mens fashion shop
A card shop – birthdays etc
    Most importantly-
** A CHARITY SHOP!!! and I’d love to be part of it (I have much experience)

The Byfleet West Byfleet & Pyrford Residents’ Association have had regular meetings with the developer, Retirement Villages, of Botanical Place and expressed the view that local residents would welcome a replacement Post Office to the one that closed as a result of the new deveopment.

Retirememt Villages have yet to announce the line up of businesses.

Definitely a Post office a Chemist and maybe a Dry Cleaners. All of these were once where Botanical buildings are now.

There’s a contact form on ‘Retirement Villages” website.
You have to specify whether you want to buy (!) or rent (!) or both(!!)

All well and good building apartments and a so called retirement community the fact is the residents need a pharmacy and post office. I feel before the developers were allowed to demolish and build they should have been made by the planners to commit to replacing these basic services
