This coming Sunday 10th November is Remembrance Sunday, when the Nation will hold many ceremonies to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.
In Pyrford, wreath laying will be held at the War Memorial on Remembrance Sunday starting at 11:30 am followed by a church service.
The next day November 11th is Armistice Day to mark the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne , France, at 5:45 am for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I, which took effect at 11:00am – the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918.

We will be at the Church of the Good Shepherd for the Charity Fair on Saturday 9 November from 10.30am to 2.00pm.
Our 2025 Wildlife Calendar will be available, as well as heritage DVDs, and bird and bat boxes.

We are delighted to announce that our popular 2025 Wildlife Calendar is now available for sale at The Pear Tree cafe in Pyrford.
The photos in the calendar have all been taken in the Pyrford area by local wildlife photographer, Mike Tibbotts.
All proceeds from the sale of the calendar go directly to the Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum to support its work on local planning related issues and other local concerns.
Woking Brough Council (WBC) have issued a DRAFT “List of Locally Listed Heritage Assets” (Local List) which is out for Public Consultation from Monday 21st October to 5pm on 2nd December 2024.
Pyrford Forum has put together an alphabetical list by road of those assets from the document which they believe are In the Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum Area which can be found by clicking here.
The last Local List was published in 2000, and those assets no longer included are highlighted in orange.
WBC have also published the list on a map and this can be found by clicking here.
The draft List, accompanying map and details for how to respond to the consultation are available to view on the Council’s website at www.woking.gov.uk/local-list-consultation from Monday21st October 2024. The consultation is open for 6 weeks. Comments can be made until 5pm on Monday 2nd December 2024.
