It’s all very busy in the natural world! Young birds are fledging everywhere and second broods are also underway.
Tawny Owls lurk in the shadows at night for mice, rats and inexperienced young roosting birds.
There is plenty of birdsong out in the countryside and in particular from Goldfinches, Yellowhammers, Skylarks and Reed buntings
Everywhere is a sea of colour with a myriad of flowers in meadows, verges and hedgerows.
Trees and hedgerows are groaning under the weight of nuts and fruits and birds are gorging on their bounty.
Butterflies are in abundance including Red Admirals, Meadow Browns, Cabbage Whites, Gatekeepers and Commas together with multiple varieties of bees, wasps, ladybirds and dragonflies.
The last Kingfisher broods are hatching as are the second Swallow broods.
Things to do
Take a walk along the River Wey to see Canadian & Greylag Geese, Mute Swans and Mallard ducks parading with their young. You might be lucky to see the vivid blue flash of a kingfisher as it darts past.
