Litter Pick February 2025

20th February 2025 by Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum Leave a Comment

Thank you to all the people who came to our Litter Pick on a very chilly Sunday morning. There was an astonishing turnout of around 40 people, who collected enough litter from around Pyrford to fill a huge pile of bags. It was particularly refreshing to welcome two children to the event.

We are grateful to Woking Borough Council for the loan of the pickers and hi-vis vests, and for collecting the bags of rubbish.

Radio Woking sent down a reporter to the event. The item was broadcast on Rob Day’s Breakfast Show at just after 09:30, Thursday morning, 20th February. A copy of the broadcast can be found here. The item starts at 30:00 minutes and runs for about 10 minutes.

The next litter pick is on Saturday 13 April. We hope to see you there!

A hot drink will be provided at the end of the session (thank you Pyrford Village Hall!).

We look forward to seeing you there!

Tamarix, 153 Old Woking Road (junction with Lincoln Drive) Planning Approval “Disposed of”

26th January 2025 by Andy Grimshaw Leave a Comment

You may remember that planning permission was sought in 2019 for an apartment block of five flats at 153 Old Woking Road and that approval was given in September 2020, subject to a Section 106 legal agreement. This application has recently been “finally disposed of”  by Woking Borough Council, so legally the application was never granted. All records have been removed from the Woking Borough Council Planning Portal.

26th January 2025 by Andy Grimshaw Leave a Comment

The work to lay power cables along the full length of Newark Lane begins on Monday 27 January, according to the Surrey County Council roadworks map. The current proposal is to have single way traffic lights 24 hours a day during the work, which should be complete by 10th July 2025.  The work is expected to start at the Pyrford end of Newark Lane and will make its way down to Ripley.

Happy New Year!

31st December 2024 by Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum Leave a Comment

2025 is going to be a busy year for the Forum. We have more community events coming up such as the next Community Litter Pick, the official opening of Footpath 422 and the installation of planters on the green by the shops. We will continue to work with Woking Borough Councillors and Officers to support the interests of our residents over issues such as road closures, drainage problems and inappropriate planning applications. In particular, we will be monitoring the progress of the West Hall development.

Above all, we are starting work on updating the Pyrford Neighbourhood Plan, with new and strengthened policies to enable us to respond to the challenges that we anticipate coming our way over the coming years.

You can support us by joining the Forum. You will receive regular updates by email with local news and details of forthcoming events. Just follow the Join Up link on our home page. It’s free! The more members we have, the louder our voice when we speak up for Pyrford.

Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy 2025!
