Pyrford is criss-crossed by a plethora of footpaths that many residents enjoy on a regular basis. Their upkeep is the responsibility of Surrey County Council and fixing things when they get broke can be a lot of fun. A group of 5 Forum members helped our Footpath Officer, last November by repairing a bridge on Footpath 81 close to Pyrford Place under the direction of John Baker, from the Surrey County Council Countryside Access Team. This is a little-known path that runs along the boundary of Pyrford Golf Club and Pyrford Place to Walsham Lock. Basically, we cut back nettles, dug up rotten timbers and replaced with new ones to reconstruct the bridge. All home by tiffin, tired but pleased to have put a bit back into the footpath network.
