Stronger Together Sessions

9th June 2021 by Geoff Geaves Leave a Comment

Events > 2021 > July > Stronger Together Sessions

About this event:

Created by Geoff Geaves

Took place on 5th July 2021
Church of The Good Shepherd

AS WE EMERGE FROM LOCKDOWN

Everyone in the local community is invited to a series of community orientated conversations called “Stronger Together” which will be hosted in the local church building.

They are designed to offer a safe space for everyone to listen and share experiences and wisdom gained during the last year in the hope we can heal and grow stronger as a community.

The sessions will provide an opportunity to talk to other people face to face, provide encouragement to reengage with a large crowd in a safe space and to process some of the issues that have arisen for us during the last year.

The first session “Talking about loss of all kinds” is on 5th July 2021 at 8pm in the Church of the Good Shepherd, Coldharbour Road, Pyrford.

This is designed to be about loss of all kinds, not just bereavement but might include loss of job, loss of celebrations, liberty, spontaneity etc. Come and hear Counsellor Steve Wright give a brief talk about processing loss: – issues involved, possible emotional reactions and where you might find help. This will be followed by round table discussions to understand our individual and community losses and begin to assess any community needs for the future.

Tea and coffee will be served. Any covid guidelines will be observed. Let’s rebuild stronger together.

The subsequent sessions are scheduled for:-

12th July – embracing change and finding hope – change management consultant Myra Clarke

6th Sept – anxiety and depression – psychologist Dr Eleanor Clark

27th Sept – talking about addiction – tbc
