There was strong public support for creating a parish council for the Pyrford Neighbourhood Area in Woking Borough Council’s (WBC’s) recent eight-week consultation. Of the 446 responses received, 68% agreed that a parish council should be established.
At the WBC’s Full Council meeting on 11 December, councillors reviewed the responses and approved the recommendation to create a Parish Council. The proposal is for
• A Parish Council called Pyrford Parish Council,
• covering the Pyrford Neighbourhood Area,
• with 10 parish councillors,
• not divided into wards.
In January 2026 WBC will carry out a further public consultation to gather residents’ views on these proposals. Again, WBC will write to every address within the Pyrford Neighbourhood Area.
If residents agree with the proposals, elections for Pyrford Parish Council will take place in May 2027, at the same time as the West Surrey Unitary elections.
The full analysis of the consultation responses and the proposal details can be found in the Full Council Papers (Item 11), which are available here.
